gifts and flood

Here are a few pictures of James opening his birthday gifts from his grandparents. He loved the wrapping paper, and really likes the dog puppet. He has been giving it lots of hugs!

The last picture is of Joe and James dripping wet from the downpour we got caught in on a walk yesterday. We were totally soaked! Unfortunately our basement flooded, so we worked the rest of the day on salvaging the stuff we have in storage. Thankfully, the damage was not severe. We are hoping we do not get any more rain until the basement window can be repaired (it is completely broken from water pressure), as it was the water was pouring in like there was a garden hose in the window. At least we don't own the place!

Lucky boy, James!!!! What a wonderful cook you are, Anne. Not many children have a mother who can bake a chocolate applesauce spelt cake!!!! Although Joseph had a Granny who baked him lots of lemon meringue pies to take photographs of him sneaking finger-bites!!!! How she loved him.
Brings back such sweet memories
And James looks heroically Happy at being caught in the rain! Adds a whole new dimension to your lives, doesn't he?
To all of our lives.
Happy Birthday, James! One Year Old

I was just looking back through these pictures and smiling. I thought to myself "only James could make eating paper look so appealing" and then I shared it with you. Only I am sure that you already thought that ;)
