bittersweet

James has received some beautiful new diaper covers over the past few days (since he has outgrown several, I am so sad to fold them up and put them away...). The top one is merino wool with embroidery on the bum.

The next few are of his gorgeous new longies hand knitted by Zersha. She does such amazing work, and also knitted us a pair of charcoal clam-diggers (shorties). He was busy rolling away as I took the pictures.

Today is fairly bittersweet for me. I found out I will be completing my clinical internship next year, meaning we are likely moving (across town), and will begin the great childcare search. I matched at Harvard, so will be at a few affiliated hospitals on alternate days. It is nice to know I was a desirable candidate, though I would much prefer to be at home with James. I tell myself, it is only for a year, and then my PhD will be attained. I can reassess my goals afterwards.

What an ironic sentence...

Anne congratulations not only on matching, but matching at a fantastic site! We all new that you would be more than just a desireable candidate.

Although I know it will be torture to have to leave James, you're right it's a year and then you will be free to decide whatever direction you want to take. Like Dr. Suess says, "you've got brains in your head and feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose."

We talked earlier, but think of the relief you will have after it is completed. Then you will be "free"... and once you feel you have found the right care for James, I really believe you will be more at ease with it all ;)

It was so difficult to leave you to return to the career that I love so much, Anne. Do you remember the time that you thanked me for doing so? The example I set may give you strength and hope that you can do this. Stay confident in your ability to do what you choose well and in James' ability to adapt to what life presents him. His character will develop beautifully one way or another. James and you have been blessed to be a blessing. God will guide your decision.
